NAEA National Convention 2013!

Pic from the convention last year in NYC
I just got word that Capital City will help me go to the National Art Education Association's National Convention in Fort Worth, Texas, March 7-10.  I can't wait to go! Last year I made it to a number of different speakers focused mainly on educating at-risk and incarcerated youth.  This year I hope to focus on teaching methodologies and materials workshops.

Letter Stamps

5th grade students have completed their stamps!  They created stamps of a letter of someone or something that is important to them.  Many choose their initials or initials of family members.  I really love how these turned out!

Cincinnati Art Museum Renovation

During break, my dad and his coworker took me on a tour of one of emersion design's latest projects- a renovation of the art academy wing at the Cincinnati Art Museum!  I volunteered at CAM for about 5 or 6 years during high school and college and it is the main reason I went into the art field.  It was great to see the new office spaces and the library.  I am most excited for the library which is located in the addition added to the top of the building which you can see in the photo.  It looks both spacious and welcoming and the terrace off the front has a beautiful view especially in the winter.  I can't wait to see the final result.  For my readers in Cincinnati, go check it out in a month or so when it is open!

Work in progress- painted canvases

Works in progress by my great 8th graders. I think they are stunning.  More updates once they are finished.

Painting Present

One year when I was a poor graduate student, I gave my dad a painting lesson as a Christmas gift.  This painting was the result of exactly 1 lesson.  What do you think?  I think he shows great potential!

Happy New Year!

While in Cincinnati for new years, I photographed some of my favorite artworks I made from 2005-2011.  I'm feeling sculpture in 2013...
